The fintech sector has shown significant growth in Argentina, doubling in size in just two years. To learn more about this, we spoke with Matías Friedberg, co-founder of Ixpandit Fintech Factory.
Fernando Quirós (FQ): What potential does the fintech sector have in the region?
Matías Friedberg (MF): One of the main roles of the fintech sector is to use technology in favor of financial inclusion. This means being able to provide financial services to people who are excluded from the traditional financial system.
There is much work to be worked on in this area in the region. According to data from the World Bank, Latam has a banking rate of 55% versus 91% in developed economies such as the European Union. In my opinion, this is one of the main causes of the great potential of the fintech sector in the region.
